But with Shinjuku station being so massive, finding a coffee shop or quiet place close to your exit of choice is not always easy. Hanazono Jinja (Hanazono Shrine) - Go North on Meiji-dori from the Shinjuku-san-chome subway station to find it.
Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (West exit) On the 45th floor you'll find free observation galleries. The views are amazing. On a clear day you can see Fuji, Yokohama and an immense portion of Tokyo.
Shinjuku Gyoen - B-E-Autiful garden. Grab a map and make a big loop around. Try to hit the Taiwan Pavilion, ,English Landscape garden, French Formal garden, Japanese Traditional garden and teahouse, and the Mother and Child Forest (Haha to Ko no Mori).
Mosaic Street - A weaving little walking street that passes through Shinjuku station. Cute little shops and restaurants
Shinjuku Batting Center - Get the stress out. A GameCenter tucked into the center of the red light district, 2-21-13 Kabukicho.
Shomben Yokocho ("Piss Alley") - If you can find it you're in for an atmospheric evening of drinking and eating. The bathroom situation is... interesting. (secret tip: Albatross, but I'm not saying anything else!)
